Fondazione Arena di Verona è lieta di annunciare che sono ripresi gli eventi promozionali che da più di dieci anni organizza per promuovere le attività liriche della Fondazione Arena in Italia e all'estero, in partneriato con importanti istituzioni, ENIT (Ente Nazionale Italiano per il Turismo), Unicredit (sponsor dal 2000), la leggendaria corsa automobilistica Millemiglia, Verona Tuttintorno, per citarne solo alcune. L'anno scorso la Fondazione Arena di Verona ha preso parte a numerose e prestigiose iniziative, in Europa e oltre Oceano: basti ricordare il Columbus Day a New York, ed ancora a Monaco, per l’inaugurazione dei nuovi aeromobili della flotta Air Dolomiti (sponsor della Fondazione), a Istanbul grazie ad un'occasione offerta dal Fondo Monetario Internazionale, a Bruxelles durante il Parlamentary Day. Per promuovere l’89° Festival Lirico 2011, il 23 settembre scorso, alle ore 17.00, presso il K+K Opera Hotel di Budapest si è tenuta una conferenza stampa, alla presenza di più di quaranta giornalisti e altrettanti operatori turistici, organizzata in collaborazione con ENIT Budapest. A seguire, nell’antica sede del Museo d'Arti Applicate, Fondazione Arena ha organizzato, insieme ad Unicredit, un concerto per più di 300 ospiti. Il prossimo 26 ottobre, la Fondazione sarà a Bruxelles, per un'occasione analoga, sempre in sintonia con ENIT ed Unicredit. Alle 11.30 del mattino avrà luogo una conferenza stampa all'Istituto Italiano di Cultura, mentre la sera, presso la Albert Hall di Bruxelles, Fondazione Arena di Verona e Unicredit introdurranno gli ospiti ad un momento musicale interamente dedicato al Belcanto e realizzato con importanti interpreti, ospiti abituali del palcoscenico areiano; il pianista Fabio Fapanni accompagnerà il soprano Maria Letizia Grosselli, il mezzosoprano Cristina Melis, il tenore Rubens Pelizzari, il baritono Gianfranco Montresor.

Fabio Fapanni, pianist Studied Composition under the guidance of M° Giancarlo Facchinetti at the Conservatory of Brescia and of M° Bruno Bettinelli at the Conservatory of Milan, where he attended the “training course for orchestra conductors for Opera”, held by M° Umberto Cattini. Received his diploma in piano in Brescia under the guidance of M° Riccardo Bettini. He has a long experience as accompanist and stage conductor. Since 1990 he has been musical stage director for Fondazione Arena di Verona.
Maria Letizia Grosselli, sopran Graduated in Trento, she then studied in Milan with Regina Resnik and Renata Scotto and attended masterclasses in Siena and Verona. She was finalist at the 10th International Contest “Riccardo Zandonai” in Riva del Garda and won a scholarship at the International Contest “Toti Dal Monte” in Treviso. She debuted as Violetta in La Traviata, sang Leonora in La Forza del destino, Aida in Aida, Cio-Cio San in Madama Butterfly, Mimì in La Bohème and Micaela in Carmen. Moreover she has sung Lady Billows in Albert Herring, The Spirit of the Boy in Curlew River by Britten and in Una notte nel bosco by Zanon, world première in Adria and Verona. She sang Liu in Turandot in the 2010 Opera Festival at the Arena di Verona. She has performed in many Italian theaters, in Firenze, Siena, Parma, Pisa and Trento and also abroad, in particular in Belgium at the Palais des Beaux Arts, the Festival de l’Eté in Mosan and the Festival des Raspes in Charleroi.
Cristina Melis, mezzo sopran She graduated in Flute in Sassari and in Opera Singing in Parma, studying with famous teachers. She attended several masterclasses and won many international contests. She has worked with the major Opera Houses in Italy and all over the world, among which: Rome, Parma, Busseto, Fiesole, Taormina, Mantua, Cagliari, Freiburg, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, the Opera of Toulon, the Theatre du Capitole in Toulouse. She debuted with the Ninth Simphony by L. Van Beethoven at Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome and performed with The Cairo Symphony Orchestra as Azucena in Verdi’s Il Trovatore and Requiem. She has performed many roles: Achille in Ifigenia in Aulide, Madelon in Andrea Chenier, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Aunt Princess in Il Trittico, Cenerentola, Rosina in Barbiere di Siviglia, Maddalena, Ulrica in Un ballo in maschera, Flora in La Traviata, Azucena in Il Trovatore, Fenena in Nabucco. She sang Mercedes and Carmen for the 2010 Arena di Verona Opera Festival.
Rubens Pelizzari, tenor He graduated in Riva del Garda and then continued his studies with A. Lazzarini, S. Sforni Corti and F. Pagliazzi. He is a young tenor of the younger generation and his lyric-heroic voice is considered one of the most exciting discoveries especially in the Italian repertoire. He has performed in many Opera Houses in Italy (Genoa, Macerata, Modena, Piacenza, Ravenna, Ferrara, Savona, Palermo, Turin and Trieste) and abroad (Bregenz, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Seul, Lisbon, Bern, Paris and Lausanne), singing under the direction of Bartoletti, Callegari, Ranzani, Di Stefano and Daniel Oren. He has sung several roles in Operas by Verdi, Puccini, Cherubini, Bizet and others, but mainly Verdi’s Operas: Aida at the Bregenzer Festspiele with the Wiener Symphoniker, La forza del destino, Ernani, Messa di Requiem, Il Trovatore, Macbeth, Attila, Il Corsaro and I Masnadieri, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Il tabarro, La fanciulla del West, Edgar, Medea and Carmen.
Gianfranco Montresor, baritone He debuted in 1998 as Escamillo in Carmen at San Severo Music Festival and since then he has sung in all the most famous Opera Houses in Italy and abroad: he was Marcello in La Bohème in Palermo, Escamillo in Carmen in Tokyo and Macerata, performed in Assassinio nella cattedrale by Pizzetti in Parma, was John Plake in Sly by Wolf-Ferrari with Placido Domingo at Teatro dell'Opera of Rome, Paolo Albiani in Simon Boccanegra in Parma and Macerata, while at Teatro Sao Carlos of Lisbon he was Jago in Otello by Verdi. In 2007 he made his debut at Teatro alla Scala in Milan with the conductor Roberto Abbado and in 2008 has sung in Der Spieler by Prokofiev, under the baton of Daniel Barenboim in Milan and at Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. In 2008, 2009 and 2010 has sung in Tosca and Carmen at the Arena di Verona. In 2010 was Conte di Monterone in Rigoletto with Placido Domingo, conductor Zubin Mehta.
